*Note: All visitors to the museum receive a Free Pass to the Céide Fields Visitor Centre, home to the world’s most extensive Stone Age Monument. All visitors also receive a 10% discount card, valid for use in both the shop and café, at Foxford Woollen Mills.

Is there a cafe at the Museum / can we bring a picnic?
While we don’t serve food on-site, visitors are welcome to enjoy a picnic at one of the many benches around the scenic grounds of Straide Friary beside the museum — a peaceful and family-friendly spot.
If you’d prefer to dine out, your free pass to the Céide Fields Visitor Centre, includes access to their lovely on-site café.
Alternatively, you can visit the Foxford Woollen Mills, just a 10-minute drive away on the N58, where you’ll find freshly prepared, locally sourced meals and delicious baked treats.

Follow the N5 east towards Dublin, passing Castlebar.
At Ballyvary, turn left onto the N58 and continue north to Straide.
From Castlebar:
Take the N5 east towards Dublin.
Turn left onto the N58 at Ballyvary and drive north to Straide.
From Dublin or Charlestown:
Travel west on the N5 towards Castlebar or Westport.
Turn right onto the N58 at Ballyvary and continue north towards Straide.
From Ballina or Foxford:
Follow the N58 south towards Ballyvary and Castlebar.
By Bus:
Bus Éireann Route 52 serves Straide, with stops from Galway, Tuam, Claremorris, Castlebar, Ballina, and Foxford.
